Longbridge

The former MG Rover Longbridge car plant is probably one of the most high profile and politically sensitive sites in the country. It extends to over 300 acres in size and in its time employed a workforce of over 6000. Today it represents one of the largest regeneration sites in the Country, with significant potential to provide for a transformational change to the south west Birmingham, the West Midlands region and beyond.

Planning Prospects is working with St Modwen Developments, Advantage West Midlands as well as Birmingham City Council and Bromsgrove District Council. The aim is to deliver an Area Action Plan with a robust evidence base and support of the local community that will positively plan for the future of the area and provide for major new employment opportunities through development of a high technology business park, Regional Investment Site and other employment uses as well as new mixed use town centre, housing, community facilities and leisure.

The scheme has the potential to create up to 10,000 new jobs, and deliver significant economic, social and environmental gains which will transform the area and boost the local and regional economy.

Outline planning applications which provide for the comprehensive development of the site were co-ordinated and prepared by Planning Prospects and submitted to the respective Local Planning Authorities in the Summer of 2008. This included the project management and preparation of a significant and extensive array of supporting technical information, including Evironmental Impact Assessment. Negotiations are continuing, with the aim that planning permissions will be in place in 2009, allowing for initial stages of the development to get underway thereafter.
